Honor Guard

The veterans of the American Legion Post 237 are grateful for the service of your loved one.
With that respect comes the sincere desire to ensure they are laid to rest with the miliary honors they deserve.

How do I get a burial flag to honor a Veteran or Reservist?
To get a burial flag, fill out the Application for United States Flag for Burial Purposes (VA Form 27-2008).
Get VA Form 27-2008 to download

Bring the application form to:
  • A funeral director, or
  • A VA regional office, or
  • A United States post office. Call ahead to make sure your local post office has burial flags. If they don’t, they can direct you to one that does.
Find your nearest VA regional office

If you are unable to coordinate a miliary honor guard for your veteran, please contact us and we will do everything we can to accommodate the request of the family.

Information we will need:
  • Copy of the DD-214 or other discharge paperwork showing the veteran was honorable discharged
  • The flag to be ceremonially folded and presented (see above for requesting a flag)
  • Time and place of the ceremony to be performed
